Catherine J. Brown

Catherine J. Brown, RN, BSN, MSN, ONC, CLNC graduated with a BSN in Nursing from Saint Anselm College in 1991 and an MSN in Nursing (Nursing Administration & Gerontology) in 1996 from University of Massachusetts, Boston. She received her Certified Legal Nurse Consulting (CLNC) Certification from Medical Legal Institute (Houston, TX) in September 2007 and her Orthopaedic (ONC) Certification from the Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board in 2007.

Catherine is currently employed as a Medical/Surgical Nursing Director at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, MA.  She has also worked at Tufts New England Medical Center, Hebrew Rehabilitation Center for Aged, South Shore Hospital, and Boston Medical Center.  Catherine is the President and Owner of Brown & Associates Legal Nurse Consulting, LLC (since 2007). Catherine has been a Nurse for twenty-one years. She has vast experience in many specialties within acute care, rehabilitation, trauma, and long-term care. In addition, Catherine has greater than sixteen years of Nursing management experience. She understands the ideal (policies, procedures, regulations & best practices) vs. the real (staffing, competency, etc.) issues that may impact care. Catherine does both Plaintiff and Defense work for small and larger firms in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Georgia. She is a true leader, as well as a strong patient and family advocate.

Rachael Arruda

Rachael Arruda, R.N. is a Legal Nurse Consultant at DeLuca & Weizenbaum, a medical malpractice law firm in Providence, Rhode Island. She performs in-depth medical record reviews in the areas of medical negligence, product liability, and catastrophic injury. Previous to joining Deluca & Weizenbaum, Rachael was employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island where she managed the collection and submission of a data validation project to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.

Rachael earned an Associate of Science degree in Nursing from the Community College of Rhode Island. Her clinical experience was performed at a critical care facility and she has been performing in-depth medical reviews for over 16 years.

Rachael has lectured for the National Business Institute on the topics of Medical Records for Rhode Island Attorneys and Medical Records for Rhode Island Paralegals. She has co-authored To sue or not to sue; an attorney’s perspective (MedHealth RI, 2000).

Rachael Arruda

Eileen's career spans over thirty years in the medical and nursing fields. She obtained her RN from Mount Auburn Hospital School of Nursing, Cambridge, MA, a BSN from UMass Boston in 1991, a Master’s in Nursing from UMass Lowell in 2005 and a Graduate Certificate in Geropsychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from
U Mass Lowell in 2004. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Eileen obtained certifications in Neuroscience Nursing in 2007 and Case Management in 1999. Eileen is the president and owner of Allosso Consulting Services, Inc.

Eileen currently practices as a Nurse Practitioner in the Neurology Department at Lahey Clinic where she provides care for hospitalized neurology patients.  She coordinates the nationally recognized Stroke Program at Lahey and participates in ongoing research projects. Her past experience includes work in the specialties of acute care, nursing management and administration and case management. As a legal nurse consultant she does plaintiff and defense work and expert witness.


The chapter wishes to acknowledge and express our thanks to our past presidents and chapter officers, whose hard work and patience laid the foundation for the successful chapter we are today.
